130. Thats how many adoptions we did last year.
We are so grateful to the birthmothers and the adoptive families we worked with. Every adoption has its challenges, but we LOVE working with the birthmothers as they struggle through a difficult time. And we LOVE supporting our adoptive families as you face the uncertainties and emotional upheavals that come as part of the adoption process.
I am extremely grateful to the outstanding group of women that make up this organization. Case managers, counselors, and administrative support are all wonderful. We really have a great team and I hope that you enjoyed working with them.
Besides doing a record number of adoptions this year, we have received our license to do adoptions in Florida, and are very close to completeing licensure in New York! This has opened up new opportunities for us as well as those we work with. There are also new challenges as we try to reconcile laws of multiple states.
We have also been involved in clarifying some of the laws in Utah. Our goal is to continue to make adoptions safer. One of the laws is to make a tax credit available to Utah residents. If you are a resident of Utah, please go to http://www.adoptiontaxlaw.com/ and sign the petition requesting this law to be passed. If you are not a Utah resident, you may want to look for tax incentives in your state. See http://www.igla.gov/commission/lru/18.AdoptionIncentives.pdf for information on tax credits in some states.
Thank you for giving us the honor of working with you. Have a wonderful new year!
